Islam & Equality For Women and Non-Muslims

By: admin

Question

I am a muslim politician for the labour party of the goverment of the united kingdom and my topic is equality between men and women and the shariah law. These days in the west women are equal to men they both have the same rights even though there are rights that niether of them should have – i want to know if i am commiting sin with my bieliefs – me personally i view that women are equal to men not in the way of the west i bielive that women should not be submissive to men and (husband and wife should be submisive to each other) – i can see why islam see’s women differently which comes with the question are women equal to men they have to since they both have freedom a God given Right – i bielieve that women and men are completley different in every way physically, mentally, emotianly, chemicaly….women are from venus and men are from mars you get the point…. however since they both live on earth they both deserve the same GENERAL rights General rights such as the right to work on thier own, the right to live, the right to go out, general rights not rights as in the west way the right to get pregnant which is given to both women and man, basically appropiate freedom. when God created us the first thing he gave us was freedom not shariah law he gave that after nevertheless freedom comes first cause without freedom we would n’t be able to bielieve in god –

what is the role of the shariah law is it a political state law or more of a personal moral law – i view it as more of a personal morale law since god doesn’t want us to tell people of our sins and alot of people are from different bieliefs and culture and religion therfore shariah law is for muslims only and becuase of the diversity of religions, the state law should not be composed of religon even if a religous group dominates the countries population the law should be there to protect everyone no matter what there religions. i’m definetly sure God would approve of this he’s smart this is a smart way to keep peace am not saying this is perfect but this will work. i mean you probably live in the west even though i hate thier filthy disgusting culture and tradition there goverment treat you correctly no matter what your bieliefs and they are not corrupt as most islamic nations are, they use religion to cling on to power. i’m not saying that the islamic nations should be like the west hell no the west is not a role model in any way espeacilly in culture and traditon but their freedom and equality is one thing we should embrace in the islamic nations taht is appropiate freedom and General Equality kind of like Turkey.

for the sake of diversity of culture, religion, tradtion, and people of the world, religion should be away from the state and politics however the state can carry an islamic or religious nature as in the case of Turkey where there is freedom but the nation and thier policies are shaped around or are very islamic or religious nevertheless there is still freedom. and anyway God asks the person to bielieve in him and embrace is ways not the state, becuase the state does not matter to god however its policy will becuase it will be created by the people . all i am saying is that universal freedom should be established to protect all people of all differences i mean some of the islamic countires such as iran and afghanistan are really violent and strict they use islam as an excuse for violence and terrorist attacks such as iran arming nuclear weapons to attack israel just because they are jews i mean would God approve of that would Muhammed pbuh approve of that would rather a peace treaty between israel and palestine favour God and Muhammed pbuh if not, why, religion should not cause evil it should prevent evil. BUt iran and the taliban and al kyeda use religion to cause evil becuase they say islam told them so.

to conclude women are equal to men they deserve the same GENERAL rights however they both have different Morale rights and different objectives set out by God. i mean if women and men abuse freedom and do all sorts of wrongs against islam then it is thier fault, if the state is extremely religious and has no freedom as in most islamic countries then alot of people will do alot of intentionally and think of wrong things they could do and still commit sin . freedom should be established for the sake of diversity of bieliefs, religion, culture amongst the people of the world i know for definite that God would want this becuase this will take away corruption from countries. the state law should be a law that is free from religion yet keep a religious nature as in the case of turkey – the law should protect everyone no matter what thier bieliefs which most islamic countries do not do
i know its alot and abit confusing – did it in a rush – but are my views against islam i dont think or bielieve so

Answer

You have a couple of issues going on here; however, I will remain brief.

Islam says that men and women are equal in the “eyes” of God. The Shari’ah (Islamic Law) does not encumber this so it is irrelevant to the point.
The role of the Shari’ah is to be the foundation of an Islamic society. This means that the society, if it is an Islamic state, will establish rules and laws that are founded in the Shari’ah. When Islam was established and spread throughout the world many people of various cultures came under its purview. Keep in mind that these governments ruled these people and applied laws that were not Islamic in nature. In fact, the Shari’ah specifically makes room to rule with a pseudo-secular governing for non-Muslims. What nations with a Muslim majority populace do to their people (Muslim and non-Muslim) is quite different than what the Shari’ah prescribes. This should be clearly recognized.

A fundamental point to keep in mind is that we thoroughly understand the various concepts in Islam and not build a case against them based on erroneous information. There is a lot of misinformation floating around and when one acquires the correct understanding then a proper analysis may take place.

I hope this helps.

God knows best.
